Matthew Bae is an LA-native with a BFA from Otis College of Art & Design. His work ranges from micro graphite portraits to illustrations to graphic novels to architectural drafts with a focus on a considered narrative. He is detail oriented and a great fit for students wanting to grow their skills. He loves design, Manga, and drawing people. He has a good understanding of the expectations and artistic developments of the students. He strives to assist each student on the journey of discovering their unique, personal, artistic vision.
Summer Teerlink is an illustration artist that grew up in the Hermosa Beach area. She enjoys traditional mediums like graphite pencils and pen. She has a fascination with depicting characters from the media especially iconic stars from scary movies. She believes believe that her students are the true intellects in the classroom, and so, she creates an atmosphere that encourages each artist’s unique imagination and creativity.
Born and raised in Michigan, Elisa earned her BA in Visual Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. While studying, she discovered a passion for woodworking and worked for several years as the proficiency instructor in the campus woodshop, teaching students of all levels how to safely operate heavy machinery and hand tools. When she’s not working on an art project, Elisa enjoys hiking, sewing, reading & writing, and exploring LA’s vegan food scene.
Linsey McCollam is an artist who focuses on large, realistic oil paintings. She received her BFA from West Virginia University with an emphasis in painting and art history. Her students would describe her as super compassionate and wonderful at teaching them complicated concepts in accessible ways.
Victoria has been involved in the arts her whole life and has been painting full time for the last few years. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BFA in Illustration and since has continued to develop her own visual vocabulary in the fine arts realm. She has found her passion with plein air painting and continues to develop pieces in the studio as well. Teaching and working with people has always been something she loves to do.
Wendy Roble is a Southern California native who graduated from Reed College with a BA in Studio Art. From a young age she has nurtured a love for fantasy, thriller, and the surreal, with her work oftentimes reflecting her appreciation for the natural world, visual storytelling and thematically rich art. She has experience in a multitude of traditional mediums and digital programs but is especially fond of graphite and pen.
A South Florida-born artist with Colombian and Cuban roots, Annette Mauricio holds a Fine Arts degree from Florida International University. With over fifteen years of experience as an art instructor, she has collaborated with prestigious organizations such as Art Nexus, Art Review, The Frost Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art, and Art Basel in Miami, Florida. Her work has been exhibited in her hometown, including the vibrant Wynwood Arts District in Miami.
Annette’s artistic practice is deeply influenced by the intricacies of microscopic organisms and her admiration for individuals making a positive impact. Currently captivated by circles, she creates compelling portraits and intricate drawings using colored pencils, her medium of choice. Annette has been an instructor at Alyce's Art Studio for over 11 years.
Our Teen Portfolio Program is designed to guide the development of an advanced portfolio. Students will work with a variety of materials to create art that is representative of their skills and interests. Students in this year long program will create an impressive portfolio, participate in group critiques where they will receive valuable feedback and support, and have an opportunity to showcase their artwork in a group art show at a local gallery at the close of the school year.
